The Rivers Panacea system is the culmination of the latest technology, over 15 years of experience with the medical community, and a product that has set the standard for practice management software solutions. Our development team has been carefully crafting this next generation product by leveraging their intimate knowledge of hardware and software systems and building upon an already robust and trusted set of business rules in order to bring an end to the pain of practice management in today's fast-paced economy. Panacea was conceived by capturing the essence of its predecessor, the Rivers Account Management System product, providing a strong foundation for the complex business logic that is the heart of any complex software suite. The primary goal was to preserve all of the functionality that customers had come to depend upon in the AMS product and build upon it to increase the overall functionality. The result is a product that is more than the sum of its parts, offering more power than ever before to IT staffs both large and small. Panacea was designed for the Windows® family of operating systems and works in a networked client-server environment. The scalable architecture and centralized control structure make managing even the largest chain of independent stores as easy as managing a single doctor practice.

Graphical User Interface

In a departure from the character based interface of AMS, Panacea uses a fully graphical interface to help users become accustomed to the software quickly. From a user selectable image for the main menu backround to the ability to change how information is displayed on the screen, the software allows each user to customize the look and feel of the system for increased efficiency and ease of use. In addition, tabs and fields can be toggled to be either visible or invisible and fields can be specified as being either optional or mandatory. Accessing system options is similarly flexible, with both a standard Windows tree structure and multiple hot buttons available for making selections.

Open Source Licensing

For anyone interested in using the Panacea software as the foundation for their own internal development efforts, we offer an open source license. We have worked with both doctors and IT staffers alike, helping them to customize our product to meet their specific needs. Of course, we also offer custom programming services for clients who don't feel comfortable with handling their own code changes. Our capable programming staff is experienced with both modifying existing programs and designing new ones from scratch based upon customer specifications.

Developed for Windows®

The programming behind the power of this new system is written in Microsoft Visual Basic and has all the hooks in place to take advantage of the Microsoft .NET framework. This Rapid Application Development language makes use of the attractive and intuitive look which will make current Microsoft application users feel right at home. Our programmers have adhered to the Hungarian naming convention while coding the system in order to make reading and modifying our open source licensed product easy for any programmer who is familiar with Visual Basic. Also, the design of the system is completely modular, making use of an innovative DLL structure and increasing code reusability. The bottom line is, "Yes, we do Windows."

Central System Administration

Anyone who has had to handle the administration of multiple sites has had to grapple with a fair amount of frustration. Keeping databases synchronized from site to site while ensuring the proper modifications are distributed to only those sites that need them can prove to be quite challenging without the proper infrastructure and the right tools. These concerns were the thrust behind the development of the central system administration features of the system. Our management tools allow for a single department to update data across the enterprise with ease, making sweeping changes simple without sacrificing the granularity of site specific modifications. Database synchronization is automatic and reporting is robust enough to satisfy even the most demanding managers. Stop worrying about how to manage and deliver product price changes, insurance reimbursement modifications, and special sale pricing on time to all of your locations. Handling your enterprise needs has never been easier.

Patient Records

The heart of any business is its client base. Keeping accurate records, collecting the right information, and being able to access it in a quick, meaningful, and easy way is part of successfully handling Customer Relationship Management. CRM begins and ends with the customer. This is why the customer database is at the core of the Panacea system. Everything from detailed medical information and insurance data to scheduled appointments can be accessed right from the patient record. Other system programs that deal with patient data automatically update the database as changes are made. Additionally, patients can be treated as individuals as well as be grouped into family units for billing purposes, making servicing the needs of entire families a snap. These features and many more make the patient records component of Panacea a robust store of data for managing your patients and giving them the care they deserve without creating a nightmare for your staff.

Billing

The Panacea billing system is extremely robust and provides a high degree of flexibility which allows for a perfect fit with your business needs. Customers want their time at the checkout counter to be quick and painless, so we made sure to streamline the process and ensure all your business rules are applied seamlessly. Here are a few highlights of what the billing system can do for you:

• Billing categories are divided into logical groups to make it easy to find the right item to bill. The hierarchy and grouping of billable items is centrally controlled to make managing your point of sale terminals simpler and more efficient. Barcode scanning is also fully supported.
• The system can handle unlimited insurance companies, applying the individual coverage rules for up to 8 insurance plans per patient.
• Each insurance plan's deductibles and maximum coverage amounts are tracked automatically, as well as frequency of use rules that govern how much of any particular good or service is covered within a given period of time.
• The system can automatically search every active insurance policy, including all special sales and promotions, in order to give the customer the best possible pricing.
• Based upon coverage information specified by individual insurance policies, the total charge for each transaction line is split so that the clerk and the customer can instantly see how much the insurance company is responsible to pay and how much the patient owes. Collecting the appropriate payment from a patient at the time of billing not only helps reduce the expense of monthly billing and collections, but also helps reduce your outstanding receivables.
• Payments and adjustments to invoices can be done against the entire invoice as a whole or by line if detailed control is needed.
• Patients who want to pay with multiple credit cards or any combination of payment types are no problem at all. The system allows for multiple payments of different types against single and multiple invoices. Those who wish to pay multiple invoices at once with a single credit card or other payment type can be easily handled too. The system will also handle multiple payment types by line!
• Commissions for your sales staff are automatically calculated at the time of billing without requiring any additional work on the part of the clerk. All of the information required to allow robust commission reporting is tracked and stored for generating the necessary reports.
• Special sales and promotions can be designed by you or your marketing staff and implemented by user defined product groupings in the inventory system. These specials can be given beginning and ending dates and are presented to the selling clerk at the time of billing to ensure your customers are given access to all of your latest promotions. Substitutions are handled seamlessly as well. The clerk can override any line to allow for a different item, including ones not covered by the particular promotion, and the price recalculation is handled automatically.
• If the patient has been given a prescription, the billing system can automatically generate transaction lines depending upon its contents, making the task of billing the appropriate items easier than ever.
• Worried about determining all the correct state and local taxes? Don't be! The billing system has been designed to automatically apply multiple tax rates that can be customized down to the individual good or service being billed.

Accounts Receivable

Proper management of receivables is important to the longevity of your business. Our accounts receivable controls help keep a tight reign on your billing data. The system keeps a complete history of all transactions that are entered whether paid or unpaid. Inquiries are also available by invoice and by date from any workstation. Coupled with the built-in business analysis features and the ability to generate your own custom reports, maintaining your financial good health is almost effortless.

Patient Rx

This component of the Panacea system stores unlimited amounts of vital prescription information for each patient. This information is accessible directly from the patient record as well as other key system modules to provide the greatest level of control and flexibility. There are also built-in links from the Rx databases to the inventory module which allow for optional usage tracking. This part of the Panacea system can be completely customized to meet the needs of your particular medical discipline as well.

Insurance Processing

Handling insurance can be a nightmare, but not when you're armed with the power of Panacea! Our insurance module is arguably the best in the industry, offering a wide range of functions while maintaining ease of use. Below are some of the features you can expect to find:

• The system handles not only the HCFA form, but a multitude of other insurance forms as well. If you have a form that needs to be filled out, our system either already handles it or our programming team can create the code necessary to get the job done efficiently. Electronic claims submission is available for selected payors as well.
• Capable of handling an unlimited number of insurance companies, this module also has the ability to maintain individual pricing for all of your billing procedures for each insurance company in the database.
• Comprehensive reporting options allow for tracking of insurance claims on a number of different levels using a variety of selection criteria. Your insurance department can produce lists of claims that have yet to be submitted as well as those that have been submitted but have yet to be paid, each with different formatting options including summary information only as well as complete claim detail.

Inventory Control

Keeping track of your inventory is a constant struggle considering all the forces in play that work against maintaining an accurate accounting of what is truly in stock at any given moment. RCS brings peace of mind to this process by incorporating the power and functionality of the inventory system used by our distribution management software into our Panacea product. The inventory system comes complete with a variety of functions to assist you in maintaining control of your inventory:

• Create user defined groupings for products for use in marketing functions like special sales and promotions.
• Define minimum and maximum stock levels by SKU to control when inventory levels need to be replenished and how much stock will be ordered.
• Generate purchase orders automatically for inventory items that meet your pre-defined criteria.
• Decide to utilize the full power of the inventory system to automatically replenish stock levels, or choose to merely track inventory usage for reporting purposes.
• Use the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) modules to handle Business-To-Business (B2B) communications.

Scheduling

Forget about flipping through an oversized book to find an appointment for your patients. By using the Panacea scheduling system, a comprehensive listing is at your fingertips! Search by appointment type, length, time, by doctor or technician, and display results by day, week, or view groups of providers at a glance. Patients who forget their scheduled appointments won't have to wait for your staff to hunt the information down because a list is available directly from the patient record itself. Business Analysis

No system would be complete without the ability to generate reports. In today's volatile economy, having the ability to analyze your business from a variety of different angles is imperative and can make the difference between being profitable and filing for bankruptcy. The Panacea system offers a wide range of pre-built reports designed to shed light on even the darkest recesses of business management. Since the system is designed to store information in an SQL compliant database, any compatible third party report generation software package, like Crystal Reports® or Oracle Discoverer®, can be used to create any report that may be required.
